June 13, 2025——Composer and singer-songwriter Christopher Emond has today shared a new single, “Minor League Debut,” featuring friend and collaborator Quiet Light——listen here and watch the visualizer here. The duet comes alongside the confirmation of Emond’s anticipated new album Music from Clocks, the first to release under his own name, set for release August 23 via Orange Label Records——preorder/presave here.
Emond produced the track in his Brooklyn apartment with violin, guitar, piano samples and a slew of analog synthesizers and effects before sending the demo to Riya Mahesh of Quiet Light, who was at the time studying in medical school in Boston. Written via email by the pair, the new track is a crystalline, modern-acoustic ballad that shears. Quiet Light brings an emotive recounting of relationships past in verses, while Emond’s choruses punch, questioning if the hypothetical future money taken justifies ‘The Means.’
About Christopher Emond
Raised in San Jose, California, Singer-Songwriter and Composer Christopher Emond released projects experimenting with electronic music and lo-fi acoustic rock under various pseudonyms, founding Orange Label Records by the time he enrolled in college, aged 18. Building a budding scene around his off kilter IDM and folk influences, Emond championed friends and local acts by directing and shooting music videos.
His debut EP, ‘Oh yea! Dance Boogeyman!’ landed February 2024 to critical acclaim, (Spotify’s Fresh Finds Folk, Anti Pop, Fresh Finds Indie), and tour dates at New York’s Mercury Lounge and Bowery Ballroom ensued.
About Quiet Light
Quiet Light is the recording project of 24-year-old Austin raised electronic folk artist Riya Mahesh. Drawing her artist name from an eponymous track off of The National’s 2019 album ‘I Am Easy to Find’, the project houses songs that Riya says, “make you feel like you’re floating, music that feels like soft light.” Quiet Light’s new ambient album, Pure Hearts is out now.
